"To fall in love with God is the greatest romance; to seek Him the greatest adventure; to find Him the greatest achievement." -St. Augustine
All Christian education is about knowing God more deeply. For most of us, knowing God doesn't just happen, it takes dedication and effort on our part. At St. Laurence, we provide numerous opportunities to that end, so that all of us can "grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord." (2 Peter 3:18)
Several Christian Education opportunities are beginning this month. Check them out!
New “CrossWord” Bible Study
When: Wednesdays, Sept. 26 - early May, 6:30-8:00pm
Location: Parish Hall
Leader: Fr. John Jordan, email here
Our new Bible Study, called “CrossWord” will begin Sept. 26 on the gospel of John with sessions for all ages! This will be a wonderful opportunity to engage in the Bible with fellow parishioners in a deep and meaningful way. The content of the study is being created by Fr. Jordan and a leadership team and will be taught within the context of our Anglican tradition. The adult study will include small group discussions, lecture and some homework. Programs are also being developed for kids of all ages so they may participate as well. We’ll meet on Wednesday nights from 6:30-8:00pm (Mass will move to 5:30 and the dinner will remain at 6:00) and both the small group discussions and lecture will take place then. Childcare is provided.
Anglican Book Chat
When: Sept. 16, 4:00-5:15pm, and every 3rd Sunday of the month
Location: Jeff and Cherie Bennett’s House (2940 N. Kimball Ave, Southlake)
Leader: Discussions led by Cherie Bennett; contact Karie Edson, email here for info.
Anglican Book Chat starts up again after their summer break and will begin their new book, Creed or Chaos? by Dorothy Sayers, which argues that if Christians don't steep themselves in doctrine, then the Christian Faith - and the world outside the Faith - will descend into chaos. Sounds like some interesting discussion! Please purchase the book on Amazon or find a PDF version online. We’ll be discussing the first 2 chapters.
