The men of St. Laurence have a strong community: serving, learning, and enjoying fellowship together. All of the groups are always open to new guys.
St. Laurence Men - St. Laurence Men of all ages are expanding their relationships in fellowship, growing in faith together and serving the community. Activities will vary from a steak night at Lake Grapevine to a football watching party to a retreat at Camp Crucis to handing out Thanksgiving food baskets at GRACE. Meetings are the first Thursday of the month in the Parish Hall. Come at 6:30pm for dinner, then 7:00-8:00pm for the meeting. All men of the Parish are invited.
Softball Team - St. Laurence has a men's softball team that plays in the Grapevine Church league. There are 28 weeks of play per year on Tuesday evenings.
Men's Bingo Night - On the 2nd Tuesday of each month, a group of men from St. Laurence put on a Bingo Night for the resident men at Union Gospel Mission. There's prizes and food and a night of fun that the resident men don't normally get. It's a chance for them to interact with Christian men who can bring God's message of love and hope as they start down a new path toward self sufficiency.
Pew Torch Team - A group of men that put the torches on the pews for special services.
St. Larry's Burnt Offerings BBQ Team - This group of men provide all the barbecued meat for the St. Laurence Day picnic and occasional other events. All men of the Church are welcome to help out beginning the Friday before St. Laurence Day. Help and learn to barbecue and give whatever time you can give.
Ushers - Help during the Church services to greet parishioners, hand out bulletins, pass the collection plate and direct people to the altar for communion. Work in teams approx. 1 service per month.
Men's Friday Morning Bible Study - This is not a formal study class but instead focuses on reading and trying to fathom the upcoming Sunday lessons to glorify the Lord (and avoid becoming pew potatoes). This men's group meets before work on Fridays, from 6:30-7:30am in the Parish Hall. Those that are available then sometimes go to breakfast afterwards. Brothers of all ages are joyfully welcomed.
