Spiritual Conference with Bishop Lindsay Urwin
Nov. 6-8
Bp. Urwin will take an in-depth look at the well-known 13th century Christian prayer attributed to Richard of Chichester. This short prayer asks Jesus for three simple things: to know him more clearly, love him more dearly, and follow him more nearly, day by day. It is often used as a daily devotional in Christian communities across England and was the basis for the song “Day by Day” from the musical Godspell.
This Spiritual Conference begins Fri, Nov. 6 with a Parish Wide BBQ dinner, our Fall Social, followed by the first teaching on “Know Him More Clearly.” 6:30-8:45pm.
On Sat, Nov. 7, we’ll have Morning Prayer, Brunch and the second teaching on “Love Him More Dearly.” 9:00-11:00am
Sun, Nov. 8, the conference will conclude with the final teaching during our Sunday School time, 9:50-10:30am.
Cost for both Friday and Saturday is $30/person.
Scholarships: We want everyone to be able to attend this conference. If the cost is difficult for you, we do have scholarships available. Please contact the Church office here.
Kids: A Nursery (kids 5 and under) plus a Kids Room (5 and over) with pizza on Friday and donuts on Saturday, is available for free.
Bp. Urwin is an Australian Anglican Bishop who is serving in the Diocese of Chichester, in southern England. He previously served as administrator at the Shrine of our Lady of Walsingham. Fr. Jordan has had the opportunity to hear Bp. Urwin teach on several occasions and was eager to bring him to St. Laurence.
Join us for an All Parish Dinner — our fall social — of ribs, chicken and sausage, all smoked by our own St. Larry’s Burnt Offerings BBQ Team. Dinner also includes delicious sides, dessert, beer and wine. After dinner, Bp. Lindsay will give his first teaching on “Know Him More Clearly.” Fri, Nov. 6 from 6:30-8:45pm. A Nursery (kids 5 and under) plus a Kids Room (5 and over) with pizza, is available for free.
